The Exelite Group, headed by Liu Jo, has conducted a detailed analysis of its Carbon Footprint for 2023, considering the greenhouse gas emissions produced.
This study was carried out following the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol, recognized as the international reference standard for corporate emissions calculations.
Total Emissions and Main Contributors
In 2023, Exelite Group’s total Carbon Footprint was estimated at approximately 180 ktCO2eq, with 98% of emissions attributable to indirect emissions generated along the value chain.
This data is not concerning, as it is within the standard for companies in the retail sector.
Furthermore, compared to 2022, Group emissions decreased by 9%.
This excellent result was achieved thanks to a winning combination of business strategies for the mitigation of indirect impact, related to the production of garments, initiatives to reduce direct impact such as installing solar panels and converting company cars into hybrid vehicles.
Redistribution of Emissions Produced
In this Group, indirect emissions mainly originate from two key factors:
1. Materials:
The procurement of raw materials accounted for 26% of total emissions. The most impactful materials include:
- Cotton
- Polyester and polyurethane
- Bovine leather
2. Manufacturing Processes:
Manufacturing processes accounted for 54% of the Group’s total emissions. The most impactful processes include:
- The tanning of both bovine and ovine leather, used for the production of shoes and bags.
- The processing of cotton and polyester for clothing.
Focus on Material Categories: A Priority for Emission Reduction
Within indirect emissions, the analysis identified material categories as the most significant in terms of environmental impact.
These therefore represent a priority as they are critical areas where efforts should be concentrated to reduce future emissions.
A Commitment to the Future
This analysis represents a fundamental step in understanding our environmental impact and presents us with new goals, such as the reduction of emissions related to raw material production and manufacturing processes. This will be crucial in further reducing our impact and supporting and implementing targeted strategies for a better future, together.
